Oh Man.

You guys have no idea how proud I am of my dummy caster system.
After a long time wrestling with it, I now have a system that lets me take any titan heal and make it casted via dummy casters. Because of the way it's set up, I can keep all the various heals contained in one trigger, and it is a trivially simple matter to add new spells whenever I want.

I'm so proud of it.

In related news, with that major hurdle out of the way .6b is that much closer to completion.

This would be nice.  Download times can be dealt with outside of the game and to be dead honest ID games don't exactly fill up instantly.  Playing on the slower computers has been killing me on wait time.  Granted it's not old dota but still.

Interesting changes, but maybe the tauren nerfs are a little much?  You could just raise the amount of xp it takes to level up by a bit, because with the current system it takes 100 gold to gain 1 level (125hp).  I see where you're going with reducing the bonuses in armor and hp because poking titan would give experience, but reducing the hp by 50 is a little much   Also how much would the armor be reduced?

Guess what I heard today.

I heard that in 3.0c or somethingrather, Panda's spell system suffered from the stop bug.

For those who are unaware, the stop bug is caused when the event for the trigger fires when the frontswing of an attack/spell has started, but before the spell/attack actually takes effect. What this means is if you cancel the frontswing (typically by commanding the unit to stop) then the trigger will fire but you won't have actually casted the spell/made the attack, so there is no cooldown/mana lost, which means you can do it again immediately, and get the trigger effects again.

What this meant for Panda's system is by spamming the heal and stop hotkeys, you could constantly reheal yourself with no cooldown or manacost.

Now, attacking is the biggest culprit when it comes to the stop bug and catches out those who haven't learned how to work around it, because there is no event "Unit deals damage" in JASS, only "Unit begins attack". This was the cause of the very old gold attack bug, back when you attacked the gold mine instead of repairing it. To fix this, you need to do a workaround by utilizing "Unit takes damage", which is not a generic value and requires every relevant unit to be added to the trigger when it is created. This is how Satyr's plunder works to prevent the stop bug. Whenever a titan/minion is spawned, it is added to the plunder list, which is why it is impossible to plunder chickens, allies, or the gold mine.

However, for spells, it is much more simple, because there does exist a "Unit starts the effect of a spell" event in addition to "Unit begins casting a spell". In this case, the only problem is the map editors inexperience and lack of familiarity with JASS, in being unable to tell the difference between these two events.



Maybe you should brush up on your JASS skills before preening your ego next time Panda.
