Here I am, My first guide ever written.

For People who have absolutely no idea what ID is, I'll start you off with the basics.

Long ago, a Titan named Lucidious was just rambling around his house, preparing for his nightly Poker match with Moltenious, Granitacles, and Sypherious. Little did he know, on that night, a mistful rain would pour down on the Island they bestowed upon, putting them to a slumberful and eternal hibernation. Watching the news, on his 70 inch LCD VICA Tv, Lucidious concluded that it was going to be a calm, peaceful night. Apparently, Weatherman was wrong. :O

500 years later, The titans wake up to find 10 builders dry-humping their Bank Chests. Becoming enraged, They go on a quest to reclaim their loot (aka ggpwn the builders). Now, the builders, having settled on the Island for the last 499 years, become emotional housewives and decide to KEEL ZE TITAN!

And thats where you come in!

____________________________________________________________________

Step 1: Picking a Titan!
Now, basically, you wait 40 seconds, Then you have the option of picking a titan from two places. The little cage thingy on the right and the fire pit thingy on the left. For newbies, obvioiusly, but not required, you should pick an "Easy" titan, which is located in the Fire Pit.

After you pick the titan of your choice, you will respawn at your cute little bank chest (mound). Now, there are many ways to start off your epic domination.

1.) Selling your AnkH for another Item.

Most titans would sell their AnkH for a Pearl of Vision or a Wand of the Wind/Webbed feet. You could go either, but for new titans, my suggestion would be to buy a pearl, located on the right island merchant for 15 gold. It is basically a far sight, nothing new. Use your pearl anywhere on the map in an attempt find lumber bases, builders, harvesters, and other feed which will help you win the game.

[screenshot]
This is a screenshot of a few good places to use your pearl.

The other option is to get a Wand of the Wind, along with Webbed feet (Webbed feet basically just increase movement speed, which is necessary for fast travel and catching builders). Wand of the wind, when targeted on a builder, makes them invulnerable and immobile in the air for 3 seconds. This is great for catching builders who run away and can help you with your very first minion!

[screenshot]
This is a screenshot of a Wanded builder.

You can also KEEP your ankh, but you wont get a very good early game advantage unless you get some feed early for a pearl.

Step 2: Finding feed!

One of the most important aspects of Island defense, as titan, is to become strong enough to siege and hold your own against bases. There are many ways to increase your level, get gold, and keep builders grounded.

Destroying lumber bases.

This is the most obvious way to actually increase your level. After you have pearled, and found a lumber base, you may go and destroy it. If you find a lumber base that is walled off by 3 or more fortified walls, or 5 or more un-upgraded walls, then forget about it, for now. Early game, you are too weak and will waste too much time trying to break into the base, and if the builder was smart, he would deny all of your feed and you will be left with a few gold from the walls.

BUT if you DO get lucky, and find an UN-WALLED or a barely walled lumber base, go and siege it ASAP. If you want an early minion, you may choose to windwalk into the un-walled base and kill the builder who is just beginning to make his base. OR, if you prefer 2 or 3 levels, wait inside his base until he either

A:) builds many shelters/fruit trees
B:) summons many harvesters

Either way will generate at LEAST 1 level of feed for you. As soon as he finishes building or summoning workers, you attack and destroy all of his feed, but do not kill him, for you will eliminate all your precious feed. If you attack workers, make sure you start with a few attacks, then NUKE as many as possible, then go back to killing them. If you do this fast enough, the poor builder wont have time to run out, wall you in, and STILL detonate all of the workers.

Camping the Mound.

While this strategy is frowned down upon, It is effective for preventing builders from getting gold. There is only one time you should do this, and that is early game, when you dont have a minion yet. There are MANY strategies involving camping that can help you earn an easy first minion.

1:) WindWalking
  • Walking away from the mound, windwalking back into the mound, and waiting until a wandering builder tries to dry hump your mound, is a great way to get a minion. There are a few rules, although. For one, you NEVER want to attack a Magnataur, or a Tauren, over a gnoll, a makrura, or other weak builders. You always should hit the unarmored, defenseless builders, rather than a hardy tauren, or a speedy magnataur. For a guaranteed kill, dont bother nuking, 3 hits after a windwalk will take care of many builders
2:) Wand of the Wind
  • As I have mentioned before, many people sometimes get Wand of the Wind as one of their starting items. This item is great for catching cocky builders who think they can run away easily. As shown in the screenshot before, all you have to do is run up to the builder, use your wand of the wind, and get under him for an easy kill. If the speedy goblin, or the blinking faerie get away from you, which can happen often, dont get down, try a different way, and experiment with what works best for you.

There are numerous ways to win using this strategy, and the above are only a few. Experiment with different items and different ways to disable builders and you will surely succeed in getting a minion.

Buying mass pearls

This strategy is ONLY useful if you have 2 or more minions. Buy a pearl for each minion, and continually reveal portions of the map. If you are lucky, you may find a builder who is just starting to lumber base, or even tower base. You always want to destroy bases as SOON as possible, before the builders upgrade it and become stronger. You should always have a healing ward handy, in case you cant break into it. If you catch a builder who is just beginning to build, immediately go there and ground it as soon as you can. Doing so generates even MORE feed for you, and depletes the builders lumber source, tipping the scales in favor of Titan.

Now, you wont Always break into the base, and if you cant, leave it alone for now, It is NOT worth dying or wasting time when you can find other lumber bases and other tower bases to feed of off.

Step 3: Sieging bases

After you have found enough feed, and builders become scared to make an alternate LB, now is when most builders start basing, Middle to late game. This is another very important aspect which will later on, define your skills as a titan. If, somehow, you have let a builder get a base up, you should first test it. Siege the base, and if you get through at least half of the walls without wards, or additional help, you should be able to take on the base no problem.

Now, to ensure a downed base, a safe titan, and a victory, you must know these 3 rules.

1:) Always have some form of heal on you.

Healing is the #1 most important aspect in keeping you alive. Replenishment potions, regenerative spines, and healing/eternal wards will help you balance the odds. There is, of course, numerous ways to use these items to your advantage.

Healing wards, the most basic and most used form of healing during sieging, is very very helpful. Before putting down a ward, you should first, Pearl near the base and see if there are any builders or titans who have the potential to destroy your ward. If not, you are in clear territory. If there is that annoying Magnataur, or that ravaging tauren, the ranged faerie, or even that windwalking nature, you should eliminate them.

A good way to kill those annoying ward-deniers is to get a floating eye. If you are skilled with a pearl, you may use that. But a floating eye removes your micro so you dont have to click on so many things. Buy a floating eye, and place it above the base. Floating eyes are invisible (Duh??) so builders cannot see them unless they have some form of truesight. Now, you are ready to kick some annoying denier ass. Place a ward a little farther out of the base, and while you are sieging, watch for the builders who come out to kill the ward. Since you should have put it out farther, It will take longer for them to deny it, thus increasing your chances of a kill. If they do deny it, although, no worries, keep trying the same thing or try these different strategies.

Still editing. Give it time

Most often it is in pubs. It's depressing how often I can get an early demo kill that way.

A quick pearl there can determine whether or not you will get the kill or not.

Speaking as an experienced early game sweeper (as in cleaning up the builders in 5 seconds flat, your early victims should be demonologists and magnataurs). There is a simple way of doing it that catches every builder flat on his face most of the time and even works in inhouses to a certain extent.

Move from the mound, wind walk, wait near the center but not at the mound, check if a mag or demon is walling the outsides, get inside of the walls before he walls it off, wait until he moves away from the edge so he can't just walk through the gap to escape you and you have yourself a mag that can't wind walk away and is usually an easy kill with 300 HP this early or a demo caught by surprise who most likely isn't going to warp in time. Has worked time after time for me and usually spells demise for the rest of the builders.

After that, if I want to clear up the rest of the workers quickly, save up enough gold off whatever you can, sell anything you've purchased for: floating eye (eye of the ocean + recipe) + energy rod... Proceed to bash down a few walls; builder knows you've probably wind walked so they don't try to rewall but for some reason they can't help but stand close and you have yourself a kill. This only enuinely works early in the game however on undeveloped bases and works best with Glacious.

I did that tactic to 5 bases in a row in one game.

If they refuse to enter nuke range then proceed onto standard titan tactics, sell the energy rod, sav whatever else gold you have and try to siege with either stacked super regen spines or preferably titanic tridents.

Usually I'd stay inside the walls early game without walling the corners because I know I won't have enough time to wall completely if titan is ww

True... but i've caught many unsuspecting demons in the way that light described.  However as mag, I just wall everything off at the beginning to prevent that.  Only a noob wouldn't fully wall off...

How to Titan more easierly:

1) Sell Ankh

2) Buy Pearl

3) Pearl the spaces that reveal three bases at once you failed to mention.

4) Continue to feed.  Once you get 10G buy Webbed Feet.

5) If you get a minion, give them the Pearl, and anyone without any micro should be able to continuously pearl while finding feed.

6) Buy Tridents, and when your inventory fills up, combine them to free up space.  late game, you should have five of those super trident things, and one Super Regenerative Spine.

7) Get one of your minions eternal wards if you have more than one minion, else let your main builder carry the wards to siege.

Cool sieging is ez.  go in, break walls, drop wards if you have them, WW'ing comes natural.  Leave the base when you have 1,300 HP or so.  the walls will continuously feed you and get you gold to complete the build.

if you are having trouble with 8:
  a) Continue to feed to get stronger
  b) Micro minis to clean up walls around middle
  c) Keep minis patrolling around the map to get unsuspecting builders.

I win most publics as titan like this.

i useally just random and sell the random item(mostly useless early like moon thingy, and reg spine). then pearl is never far away, and the ank is a cheap way to make what counts as a super trident, while also being able to revive you.
