Given everything that has happened the last couple of weeks, I'm sure a lot of people, as well as me, are out of the loop on what is going on with 2.8.6 right now.
Can we get any kind of current update on it? (It's worth a shot)

Yes it is. It isn't fake or hacked. It's a legit as .5c is. Throughout ID there has been different editors. This is just another change in editors. Hopefully Darox and RCXQuake will bring us the wonder .6, untill then you can play what Darox will tell you is official version. One filled with and exploits galore (.5c) or you can play .5d and beyond with some balances and bug fixes. |

It is chip, and rcx still logs on every so so and tries to find which channel we talk, I've seen him at least twice in the players list.
