Contest is open to everyone. Make an original loadscreen for island defense, must be within loadscreen specifications for wc etc etc. Winner gets funny music!! You'll also get credits, thank yourself in the loading screen etc etc. Overall Size: 1024 x 768 Contest closes when we find a good enough loadscreen. So open until then. Discuss. Since Baka brought it up. Yes we are currently looking for a better load screen. The one we have now is getting quite old. However the quality of load screen I am looking for is probobly beyond most people's capabilities of making. Something along the lines of what DOTA has. Yes I know that is a bit much to ask. Requirements: 1.) Must have 1 or more of the titan's on it. 2.) Must have 2 or more builders. 3.) Must have the Author's signature (name of person who made the load screen). This must be at the bottom left or right of the load. 4.) Must have (Created by Yacapo & Dildamesh, or Brought to you by Yacapo & Dildamesh, or Presented by Yacapo & Dildamesh.) This can be anywhere on the load screen. 5.) Must give the website address ( http://IslandDefense.org) 6.) Must have the title of the game and version number on it (Island Defense v2.8.6) I realize most of the people posting are looking for good screen shots to be used as a load screen. I don't think this is going to cut it. However if if someone does come up with a pwnage screenshot/load screen I may consider using it, but it is going to have to be pretty god damn good. If we do use someone's load screen they will be given -funny music for sure, and a couple other nice little toys to use on b.net. With all the great Graphics people we have here I'm pretty sure we could get something near DotA quality. However the trouble would be how to spilt the prize....

That loadscreen always did seem drawn, wow that guy is talented. Don't forget DotA has most of the bnet population over on those forums/playing it, so eventually someone good would have to do it.

Wow... Makes me want to do nothing but play dota all my life and try to live on it! The cash prize is higher for the official fire and ice tournament I think, not sure how much though.
If some poor soul isn't living off of tournaments, one soon will... I just need to get good at it now! That and better internet! |

Lol, the people who play tournaments like that, and win, are outrageously good. Most of them are also really good at arithmetic and summing up situations.
And the dota allstar's load screen is drawn. Our graphic people here only use renders.

Yeah, I doubt I'll win. Then again, I probably won't even enter! I commonly hand draw, scan, and digitally color my best computer graphics. That and hand draw, skip scanning, and go straight to computer graphics using the drawing as a guide. I've got two good ideas for loading screens already. I'll probably make both and see which one looks better.
I take almost all my passions to obsession. For me, if it's worth my passion, it's worth my obsession! I'll gladly waste 18 hours on each loading screen, even if I don't get -funny music or anything else! |
