Facebook is a social networking site used to bring people of common interests together.

Because of it's easy to use and simple design it has become popular and even got its own movie
"The Social Network"

Facebook takes information gathered on the site from the many users and sells them to companies so they may improve their products. In a sense Facebook stalks you no matter your privacy settings on it and takes the information you put in and the things you do on it and sells the information to other companies to tell them your interests.

Things uploaded to facebook are also sold for analysis as information.

All in all facebook is like an interactive survey you take every time you use it.(Like those annoying ads or that one download site that makes you do 30 surveys before you can download) All of this is masked with a huge wall of text and the ability to "hide" your profile from strangers.

I think this is pretty much what it is, right?

I also read something about "pc profies" who tried to completly delete their profil on facebook and all the datas.

The result was, it took quite a time and for the "normal users" it was...

Something like: just deleting your profil doesn't delete all of the infos.

Sure, but if a user knows what Adblock is and has a spam folder... how are they at risk? This is what I don't get about Anonymous' complaint. I've never bought anything on the internet JUST because of an ad... I don't think I'm much different then most.

It's because they sell information (everything you do on facebook) and allow clandestine access (basically "black ops" or operations not officially recognized by the us government, typically intelligence.) and cooperate with "foreign dictators" such as in Egypt. So they know more about you than anyone else, and with that information can do a hell of a lot.

Plus, they make shitty mass-produced generic time-consuming games. That's reason enough right there.

Name something that they can do with the information on a generic facebook page that is bad. I'm not saying there is nothing they can do, I just don't know.
