I hate how it can't hold corals or that other item.

Solution:
Let it hold coral but can't hold WoTW, I rather builders slowly ferry WoTW's away then my coral or recipe item. So be it if the goldmound happens to nuke down a builder.
If he can afford 2 corals and E-Rod he deserves to do it.

The reason is for anti-pearl, however you could just add a negative mana regeneration on the mound. Also the builders would kill your wotw, not drag it.

it should be no problem to just replace magic coral with a dummy item. However since no one seems to be really working on ID i dont see this happening

Just give the mound 1/1 mana, and give it -100000 mana regeneration and it's fine.

Or! you could just put "unit inventory" rather than hero inventory. The upgrade in ladder that lets units carry items does not allow them to use them however. Why not use a variation of that?
