This topic will be entirely dedicated for you to put up a list of games that in your opinion has the best music soundtracks to it.
You can list 5 games, 10 games, 15 games. Its entirely up to you.
As the topic starter, I will put up my gamelist, including youtube links:
As there are many games, I come across brilliant musics along the way. And many of them are just so enjoyable and fitting to their themes that they deserve a praise. Out of all these pieces, I will honor by showing my list of praised games.
If you disagree, you are welcome and feel free to share, but I would love to see your own list as well. Afterall, im just picking out my favorites.
Expanded the list with further games:
Nr.8 - Super Metroid

One of the most popular games on the Super Nintendo if you ask me. Super Metroid continues the story after Samus wiped the entire Metroid population... save one, that was taken back and given to scientists. Samus barely left the asteroid belt the station was located in, before it had been attacked by Ridley, an arch enemy to Samus. The Metroid stolen and taken back, Samus follows Ridley to retrieve the Metroid youngling.
This game is pretty interesting at first, but grows to be more than that as you go. I have a hard time putting the controller down once I start playing this game, its just that addicting. You can play through this game 5 times and still learn something you didnt know before.
Vastly entertaining, this game surely does deserve its place on my list.

Nr.7 - Heroes of Might and Magic III [Restoration of Erathia/Armageddons Blade/Shadow of Death]

Heroes of Might and Magic III is on the top of turnbased strategy games. Widely respected as the flawless icon of the Heroes of Might and Magic Series, the third game takes you into a vast world where replayability is almost endless.
The music employed in the game is on a grand scale, and deserves to be in my collection of epic game soundtracks in particular, beyond its praise of superb gameplay. The game houses 9 different races that can be played, each with its unique ranks of creatures and playing styles:

Each town as mentioned has its style of gameplay, and benefits. Necropolis, being my favorite utilizies Necromancy; an ability that lets you animate the slain in combat to return as skeletons. Not just enemies are reanimated, but your own as well. If you have 30% Necromancy and lose 60 skeletons in a battle against 240 Goblins, the Necromancy will reanimate 90 skeletons. Ofc, 30% is a meager statement and in some games you can come as high as 100%+ Necromancy (you have to be pretty damned lucky though to get 100%).
Nr. 6 - Master of Orion II [Battle at Antares]

Many of you probably are not aware of this strategy game, but it is played in a civilization game manner. You build your cities, research new techologies and expand to new worlds. Meet a variety of alien races and trade, create alliances or war with them.
During your play, you will enjoy a vast replayability as you can pick between 13 preset races and even create your own ones. All while enjoying what I deem masterpieces of game music.
I'll give you links to the 3 world themes and the 3 battle themes, to give you a view of what I put on the Nr.6 position.

Nr.5 - Super Mario III

It is without a doubt that the Mario games have some of the most memorable music soundtracks in any game. I could never forget that joyful happy music. It was pure music designed for the soul.
A game that is fun to play, and with good music. Can it get any better? Super Mario 3.
There is not very much to talk about except that im here to praise the music, so i'll give you a few links to show for the qualities of this game:

Moving on to the third of the six games that I praise...
Nr.4 - Warcraft 2 [Tides of Darkness & Beyond the Dark Portal]

If you havent played this game, you have to. Otherwise you should never call yourself a Warcraft 3 gamer, because this game, was the start of what Warcraft is today.
Warcraft 1 was never a really big hit that shooked the market, but it was enjoyable for certain. It wasnt until Warcraft 2 came about that the Title really shot up into the sky, continuing where the original left off... however with better graphics, more gameplay variety and; a map editor.
Plot of the story continues where the first left. The Orcs conquering Azeroth and the defeated humans fleeing to the North. The Warchief intends on conquering the nations of Lordaeron as well, to tame the nations beyond Azeroth.
This is a game of epic proportion, and by playing it you will understand just how epic it is.
Throughout the game, you will be building your base and killing your enemy with a mixture of possible strategies. It was also new with its addition of naval and air combat. personally, I believe the Naval addition should have carried over to Warcraft 3, which it did... only for custom maps however. What a load of shit...

What game could possibly top this game for the nr.3 position? Lets have a look...
Nr.3 Command and Conquer Red Alert 1

Yet another Strategy game. This is the third strategy game that im putting on this list. Maybe its my love for strategy game music, but I find them more arranged than some other musics.
Regardless. Many games dont meet my demands or even turn out that memorable. Red Alert 1 is memorable by far, and is to me a classic of large scale. Simple graphics, great gameplay and of course, Grand Music.
Red Alert 1 begins with a cutscene, where Einstein travels back in time to kill Adolf Hitler. After he succeeds, he warps back where his assistant is joyed over the success. Einstein fears for the alternate course in history, with good reason. For when Hitler didnt exist, he couldnt build up the German army, leading to the invasion of the Soviets.
After you pick this game up, I guarrante you will be addicted.

Moving onto the top two games, because now we are talking bigtime music classics. And which ones did I pick? Well I'll be damned.
Nr.2 - Starcraft

Assuming im sane, there is no gamer that doesnt know about this legend. Coming out after Warcraft 2, this is without a doubt the best game I think I have ever played. Its also where I learned that monsters are cool, and the Zerg did not dissapoint. Economically wise, they butchered anything, be it in the sky or ground. They only lost in larger scales of combat due to their lack of attack range, but the cost effective units remain my favorites. Zerg will be my favorite race, and i'll take anybody's opinion on that.
Unlike most games, we dont get whiny heroes that want to restore justice and protect life. We get a whole cast of characters that strive for ultimate control, be it for good or bad. The Protoss that stood out as the most judging desired to wipe out the zerg, and were prepared to destroy worlds to do so. Their insane talk of justice isnt going to cover that.
The Humans work out like today. A whole network of trust and betrayal, and whoever gains the most benefit will do whatever it takes to secure it.
Zerg however, were free of such trivialities. They didnt concern themselves with negotiations, they wanted to become perfect. Their leader, the overmind took a liking to the Psionic powers of the Protoss, and desired it for the swarm. To infest the Protoss into the Zerg ranks in order to breed new Zerg with Psionic Powers.

If Starcraft is the best game I think I have ever played, Surely there cant be any games with stronger musics right? Well, there is.
It comes from the same company as Red Alert 1 Did, the Westwood Company.
Although I ranked Red Alert 1 the third game, there is a branch in the CnC series that were used to make bold experiments with gameplay. Among them is the game I deem to have the greatest music tracks ever;
Nr.1 - Dune Emperor [Battle For Dune]

I may as well say it. While this game does not match up to the competitive play that Starcraft and Warcraft 3 can produce, it still does amazingly well to make such gameplay.
And its music is the most memorable of them all, which I will be sharing with you in just a moment. Many of you probably are not aware of this game, and I would recommend this to you, should you be looking for something fun to play.
