Animation Cancelling 101

Why?

Animation cancelling is used alot in DotA, and even Island Defense (although you don't know). Animation cancelling revolves around the animation the particular unit plays when ever it attacks or casts a spell. If you would cast a spell, notice the delay of the cast. That 1-3 seconds doesn't seem like much, but when you're running, juking, killing a minion, (etc.) time is of the essence. To fix our little dillema, you issue a different command AS SOON AS THE SPELL TAKES EFFECT (unless it's channeling).

You forgot about using it for lumber, if you hit the tree and just before you see it move press "e" people lumber faster.

well, i think you should instead change the topic/subject to the other way round i.e. "animation which should not be cancelled" e.g. demonicus titan's heal, teleport, etc and just encourage the rest of the skill to be "cancelled" immediately

Yes, the titan arches forward and his 2 arms fall back.

I strongly suggest for the guide writer to include a short demonstration, via fraps(or a suitable alternative) for a first person vod to the guide.

Animation canceling correctly can be demonstrated with many spells, as well as building and melee/range attacks.
Need correct demonstration, advice, or some techniques that have to do with animation cancelling?

Any skill which makes the unit pause for a second can have its animation canceled. So this means almost everything except windwalk and panic.

A cool concept that hasn't been brought up is not the animation canceling of your own unit, but that of the titans.
This means, once you recognize titan animation patterns(for spells, attacking) you can dodge melee attacks through escape abilities, silence right as spells are being cast, stun at the right time regardless of punishment. At certain times, you can also utilize fog of war to your advantage as well.

This takes significantly more practice than the typical animation cancelling.

bubonicus for a mini stun u nuke and then walk, it gives i think a .5-1 sec stun nuff to catch up or stop em form runing, plus if u miss u ont have to wait for entire speell, umm, i would say eying, it pauses you umm, demos summons

This works most of the time. But soemtimes there's bad pub hosts that have massive delays.
If you didn't leave from that already, then you should know the average delay, and adapt accordingly
