Tips and Tricks to Annoy the Titan

Table of Contents

1. Jumping
2. The speed turtle
3. Basing
4. Wall walking
5. Credits

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

1. Jumping

This is one of the many ways to annoy the titan, or show off to your friends. There are many places were you can jump, but barely any are useful. There are 3 useful jumps that I have found so far. The spots of the jumps are in the middle right base, top left of the map (where you buy the recipes), and near the gold mound. Many people know about the jump near the gold mound, but what about the other two?

There are also many other jumps, although most arn't very useful, it just shows the depth of what you can do in a game. If you would like to see the jumps, go to page two of this thread.

1a.Ledge Jumping

For practical use, you can use this to escape if the titan is sieging the middle left base and you were just chilling there. But you can also use this technique to stall the titan. How? It's simple. Just build walls (upgraded) and once the titan finds those walls, he'll think that either you're going to base, or it's a free kill. If there are no minions, repair away to stall him longer. If he brought a minion or two to make sure you don't escape (in case he thought you might panic or wind walk), then I wouldn't suggest repairing as you could get 2 hitted by nukes. When he is on the last layer of the walls, set up your shelters, but don?t finish them, and jump. If you did this correctly, you probably have stalled the titan for a few minutes, and amazed everyone who thought you were dead.

Here are some screenshots of how the shelters should be placed, and where you will end up after the jump.

Middle Left Base (you will need 1 worker in order for this jump to work)

2. The Speed Turtle

Ah yes, the highly underused Speed Turtle. Many people don't see what you can do with this speedy critter, but actually this turtle has a lot of potential. With the speed turtle, you can collect items, scout, and even have you're own pool party.

2a. Scouting

The speed turtle has insanely high ms, which allows you to run circles around the titan. You can use the turtle if you're a basic builder who doesn't like golding, or if you have good enough micro or a trusted friend, you can do it while golding. All you have to do is follow the titan wherever he goes, and you'll have almost complete vision of the titan at all times. The only downside to this is that the turtle has 125 hp, which means he gets killed in 1 nuke. If you see the titan about to nuke, just blink away. If the nukes hit you, it's not the end of the world, and the titan wasted some of his mana.

Note* You can also do this with a worker, but it does not work as well.

2b. Item collecting

This is more for public games, in those games where the titan feeds off the newbie, nukes and gets 20 workers. In those cases, at least 1 item usually drops. Since you're already scouting, you'll be close enough to blink to where the item dropped and scurry away.

2c. Blocking

Turtle's can save lives, literally. If you're speed turtle is close enough you can blink him in front of the titan and start moving, then pressing stop, then doing it again.   If you do this correctly, one of two things will happen. The titan will be blocked, and the builder will survive, or the titan was following with attack, and he just attacked the speed turtle This gives the builder some precious time to escape, but this does not always help.

You can also use the turtle to block the titan while he is sieging. When you think the titan is about to run, blink your turtle behind the titan and if he tries running, it will block him.

Note* If there is only one speed turtle, you will have to try to do your best to block him, since he can walk around it. If there are 2 speed turtles that are lined up correctly, the titan won't be able to escape and will run around for a few seconds before attacking the turtle, which will hopefully lead to death.

Note** Blocking is very hard, and it takes practice to get it right. If you are experienced in melee and know how to block, you'll have no problem blocking with the speed turtle.

3. Basing

This isn't your regular guide to basing, this is the guide of basing to stall the titan with radioactive when the titan got an early minion. I  recommend doing this only when there are 3 or 4 bases up already and you trust them, or you absolutely need to stall the titan to let your teammate get that extra wood so he can base.

Since radioactive has mediocre bases without gold, some of them end up feeding the titan. But if you can't base with radio, what are you suppose to do? You can stall the titan. You could do this in any base, but the base I like is actually the top right part of the map. At first, I would just build 2 or 3 layers of upgraded walls, and a few unupgraded towers (leave space for at least 4 more layers of walls). This way, the titan will see you as easy feed, and will probably not try to kill you. Since the titan will probably think you're noob, you can repair the walls to stall the titan longer. When the titan is on the second or third layer (depending on the level), start builder another layer. Upgrade those and keep on repairing. Do this until he's on the second to last layer of walls, or earlier, whenever you feel comfortable that you will be able to deny all the feed, then run out and wall him in. After you do that, start denying all your towers. Voila, you have just stalled the titan, gave him no feed, and probably pissed him off too.

*Ill add picture here later.

Note* You could do this with any builder, but radioactive gathers lumber the fastest so wasting 3-4 k of wood won't hurt you.

4. Wall Walking

Wall walking only works when you're builder has an orc-style way of building. If the titan is chasing you and is almost caught up, build a wall or a shelter. What this does is makes the titan change targets since your invulnerable, and makes you very hard to kill. Keep on doing this until you have made a choke point for yourself, or wall walk your way to an entrance of a base or a lumber base.

Note* This is very dangerous, and will often lead to death if you are unsuccessful or inexperienced.

Here's a vid where it shows wall walking, with some other stuff in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_h1XKncmUU

Random Stuff

When you're at the gold mound and feel brave enough, you can wall deny the titan. This gives him minimal feed and will hopefully make him stop camping. Wall denying is simply waiting until the wall has 1 hit left, then attacking it.

Flag Detting. Great fun, great laughs, and great to watch. All you do is select a group of workers, queue them to a spot, but you press detonation there instead of just moving them there, so once they make it to the flag they'll all deto at once.

You all know that using detonation dispels eye, but it can also dispel all the other negative effects on you as well. Bring a few workers to the middle (2 or 3 works best) and spread them out in the middle. If the titan wands, hits, or nukes (this only applies for glacious nukes), then deto on that builder right away. If you do this quickly enough, chances are you'll save the other builder. This works great for inhouses.

Have you ever played a game where you had a fool proof trap to kill a minion, only to see it teleport away with a tele staff? Tele staff is much different then the teleport from cage. To cancel his teleport, you need some type of stun (storm hammer, tauren bash, goblin trap, etc). If the minion is stunned before he finishes teleporting, then he wasted the tele staff and you got yourself the kill.

Credits

Chronosphere, for showing me the top left ledge jumping spots.
Kyleep, for his insane wall walking and blocking skills. Also the one who started flag detting.
Red, for making the youtube video.
Aflacduck, for wasting god knows how much time to find the jumps on page two.
Epic_Pandemic, for finding the mid lumber base jump.
Shaw, for being down long enough to make me write this guide.

Handy little guide. I'm happy someone recognizes the speed turtle, if I may add something another use for the speed turtle is to run around a titanic hero out of attack range, then you can snuggle up close then blink away before titty can touch the turtle. Turtles are excellent mini-bait for a demo-trap too.

You forgot spamming unfinished shelters surrounded by walls and then destroying them all when the titan finally gets through the walls.

I didn't know about 2 of the jump spots. I'm impressed.

I do that when the titan bitches for feed. I build a ton of unfinished fruit trees and shelters and delete them all when he comes.

There's another jump at the top right base (troll base), except for it's not as handy since the spot is usually preoccupied by shelters. You would have kill all the shelters then build yours to jump.

It also requires quite a few shelters to actually do the jump.

I liked the spot you could jump to in the older versions at the top right base.  Was pretty nice if you had a tp staff.

You could jump out of that spot too, just not with mag cause you needed a few workers.

Edit: If anyone find/knows other useful jumps, Ill add them.

You still can with your one worker and a speed turtle.
You may also want to mention the top left one where people sometimes get stuck when walling. It can be useful if you have a tp stick but titan is chasing you.

On the blocking section, you might want to mention that the same can be done with nature/radioactive workers, if titan is chasing someone get the worker and send it out (if the workers are spread around the map), and if its a nature worker you can build a fruit trees to choke up some places.

2.How do people get stuck in the top left?

3.I was going to add that, but i'm sure that will be added when someone makes a nature guide.

Anyways, I have 2 jump spots that can be...useful.

The one right below the mound and the one to the bottom left of the mound.

if you want a pic of them, I'll post it.

This one's useful if you get stuck in that area. But it can be tricky to build on yourself just right.

This one can buy you a couple more seconds to get away from titan, best if used with a choke point after.

I'll add the first one later, as it gives you an escape method in that area, good job. Not adding the second one, isn't that helpful and if you build it wrong you're screwed.

I'll add you in credits too.

Well, at least its not a death trap  Tongue
For the second one you can also build a half shelter, then that one which will always ensure you jump out there, somewhat like the jump on the northeast side.

The jump is useless, face it. Really, unless the titan is right behind you its useless, and if he's right behind you chances are you can't build since he's whacking your ass.
