NOTE: THE "OLD" TERRAIN PICTURES ARE OF VERSION 2.8.6B AND ARE, IN SOME WAYS, NOT 100% TRUE WITH THE CURRENT VERSION.



For as long as I have been playing Island Defense, there have been bases that simply suck, and they need changes. I have taken the liberty of messing around with the terrain of several of these bases. The bases I am highlighting right now are the far top middle water base, the bottom left base, the far right base and the middle top base.

Far Top Mid

Old:


Problems: This base has extremely easily nuked workers, little tower room and little room for anything else.

New:


Changes:
1- Room for nuking made smaller.
2- Removed the water and cliff inside the base for more room, also added a path up to it for the titan.
3- More tower room.
4- Removed the awkward arm outside of the base and added one from inside parallel to the top arm.
I also added a cliff/water seed spot and removed the unbuildable terrain.

Bottom Left base

Old:

Problem: Easily nuked is the major issue.

New:


Changes:
1- a few trees added in back.
2- Cliffs pushed more outward in the bottom portion of the base.
3- More tower room.
4- Trees added to help reduce nuke vulnerability.

Far Middle Right Base

Old:


Problems: Little room for anything, not enough space for workers.

New:


Changes:
1- Increased base size
2- More trees added.
3- Entrance pushed outward, one arm shortened while another is added.

Middle Top Base

Old:


Problems: No room for buildings or workers, unbuildable terrain makes it even worse.

New:


Changes:
1- Unbuildable terrain removed.
2- Space added on the left side.
3- Space added on the right side.
4- Trees added.

I also pushed the trees back and increased the base size front to back.



That is all for now. If I can get my hands on an unprotected version of a current map, then I can get to work on suggestions.

Little details can be ironed out, feel free to discuss. These suggested additions are by no means final.

1 and 2 are good, 3 isn't needed and 4 is useless since you didn't get nuked from there. The thing with that base is its amazing ability to wall titan in and since its 2 levels higher than regular ground better vision for builder worse for titan.

Mid right: Already changed again, and is much better, but still needs some room, yours looks like shit.

Top mid (lower): No reason for 1. Rest meh.

Vouch far top mid since that base still sucks and always has.
Vouch mid right and vouch top mid as well. Good to take away unbuildable terrain, that was another change that panda put in that was never there lol

There is a need for 1 at lower top mid. If you have ever based there you would know that being able to use the ramp for things such as fruit trees makes the base much better.

top mid sucks. even with troll, faerie still needs around 30 towers.

Far Middle Right Base
still sucks in the new versions. easy to nuke you dont have enough dmgoutput on the top and overall to few space.

Bottom Left base
i agree with a few buffs althogh i thing its allready quite strong as long as you pay attention.

i like 2 the most and i think its one of the best changes. 3 is kind of strong the base does not lack dmg output, imo.


island defense really got a problem now since some bases are "guarding" eachother. bottom left left and bottom left right

for middle top base i told him to reduce the cave size and add a whole lot of space in there

Pushing it back is best

4 isn't needed because lucy cannot reach you unless you are literally hugging the edge there. In a realistic scenario, the only titan that is a threat there was grant's minions or syph, but that usually meant you had other problems.

Yes, that great, but the point was if you couldn't fit everything in your base you had to risk it going out to place some fruits or whatever you needed, you remove any threat of basing there, only one is if you stand right at tree line to get nuke killed by grants minions. Also with other changes its not needed.

The point is that, why would you want to even base top mid and take that risk if theres so many better bases where you don't even have to leave to put things that you can't fit in the base.

top mid base is still useless...low place, easy nuke of workers, no FoW up cliff style making it easy to gain vison of the base.

Because the amount of DPS you could get out of it for builders that don't take up that much space (AKA troll and goblin), have multiple walls coming into base that don't affect space, and allow for every tower hitting before titan is halfway done with walls. Don't forget vision again, and rewall is so much safer there than many other bases because to be close enough to nuke you when you rewall back few walls requires them standing in more than enough Damage to severely cripple the minions/titan.

Top mid should be near unnukable to account for it's shitty base style

Bot left just has terrible a DPS to nuke range ratio

Mid east is okay, it just looks way too even and designed for basing (Hi Vampirism)

Middle base is alright, it's not like anyone but high DPS'ers went there anyways.

Problem is, if I change the terrain there even a little bit, theres a high chance that the cave disappears. Even if the entrance of the base changes, the cave can disappear.

i agree that some bases do need to be changed. i'm not sure if the changes you suggested are the ones that we're looking for, but oh well

the far top mid is deffinately a cool LOOKING base imo, but it just isn't setup right, it needs to be tweaked so its a viable base, but thats just my opinion

the base right above the mound is cool how it is, even though it is a bit small, goblin and troll often make that base work very well, i really like how the towers kinda wrap around the titan when hes in there, but it has very little room for supporters to make arcs or anything like that, so some tweaks could be made there

far right mid, same thing as ^^^^^ that

its also a shame that bot mid can't be used to base unless for DB : / but i suppose having a spot just for DB is good
