GIMP, the best open-source, and where to find it.GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is the "free" version of photoshop. It allows you to edit pictures, colour new ones and has many many different features. I use GIMP to make all my signatues, along with various brushes from various websites (Mainly deviantart.com though). The free program, GIMP, can be found at http://www.gimp.org/. and can be downloaded at http://www.gimp.org/downloads/. If you are new to GIMP, I highly recommend that you check out some of the tutorials that can be found across the internet. A few good GIMP tutorials for making "signatures" are listed below. Ok, forum rules not aside, because they never are, GIMP is the best open-source. And I hope this helps people who want to learn to use it, because they do not want to pay for photoshop.

I have photoshop and I must say, it's no better than GIMP. It's even more complicated than GIMP, only featuring some better tools, which aren't even used most of the time.
Not to mention most of the current sigs on this site are just pre-made. Fractal/3D images, if you will.

I think GIMP is easier, but it really depends on what you use more for personal preference. Could we change the direction of the topic frmo "Gimp is better than photoshop. No photoshop is better than GIMP" to "I have a question about GIMP...?"

Blargagaga. This isn't the thread to argue about PS being better/worse than GIMP. It's a GIMP resource thread. If you want to argue about PS and GIMP I'll make you a different thread, if you want a PS resource thread, I'm sure Radon or someone else would be glad to.
Please stray away from PS/GIMP arguments.

O.O 19 minutes... I've had GIMP on my computer since... November 08 2007 11:08:53 PM. According to the properties menu. I've used it mainly for drawing/colouring though, signatures have been a off to the side thing for me. But since my scanner has added a new feature to itself, the blurry pee effect, I have been slow with drawing and decided to shift my interests into signatures.
But I know what I just said will not stop you from entering my threads, and commenting on me whilst involving yourself. So let's have a... A... Uhm... Signature... Uhh... Showdown! Ya. That sounds fun. Each of us makes a signature, and we post it here in the graphics forum. People vote for the one they like the most. Winner gets a beak free week, and loser must... use the other person's signature for a week. Since it's the labour day long weekend, I think it's fair that it be due at the end of Monday and we vote Tuesday and Wednesday.
