i just got my second computer and i need help understanding how to hook up a LAN connection of course i have all the cords but im not shure how to hook up?

i thought this was the right place because it is hardware which deals with LAN, anyway i tried google nothing on there would help me it says access violation error?

Get a router. Plug an ethernet cable into your wan socket of your router from your modem.
Plug in another few ethernet cables into your computer(s) or set up wireless if your router supports it.
